Poon Hill trek is considered to be one of the best treks in the Annapurna region that provides an up-close and panoramic view of the entire Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri. For its beauty and adventure the Poon hill trek is also called the short Annapurna circuit. Apart from the stunning views of the mountains, the trek is also special as one gets to witness the various terrains of Nepal and the diverse people inhabiting the different regions. The local people mostly include Magars , Gurungs and Thakuris with their unique lifestyles and Buddhist cultures which makes the trek a culturally enriching one. The trek through lush hilly regions, rhododendron forests with intoxicating views of Annapurna range , Dhaulagiri, Himchuli , Mt Fishtail and many others throughout the trail make s you feel like you’ve reached a new paradise with every other step.
Poonhill is a hill station overlooking the Annapurna Massif range and Dhaulagiri mountain range, located on border of Myadi District and Kaski Dsitrict in Gandaki Province of Nepal. This lookout is the key viewpoint in the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. Mountains such as an Annapurna 8,091m, Dhaulagiri 8,127, Annapurna South 7,219 Meter, Machapuchare 6,993 Meter, Hinchuli, Annapurna III, Dhampus peak, Dhulagiri II, and many other tall peaks can be seen from here.
The Poon Hill Trek is also known as the Annapurna Sunrise Trek and that is because everyone is trekking towards that famous spot on Poon Hill from where you can see the sunrise over the Annapurna Range, one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world. On the Poon Hill Trek, you won't have to worry about altitude sickness, you can do it in as little as 4 days and it is a perfect introduction to trekking in Nepal.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,295 m/4,273 ft.)
Arriving in Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA),Transfer by Private car/ Van (depends on size of group) to the selected hotel at Thamel in Kathmandu . Stay overnight on b/b basis.
Day 2: Visit world heritage sites in Kathmandu
After breakfast we will be heading toward city for sightseeing. On this day we will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Bouddha, Swyambhunath . Stay overnight on Hotel.
Day 3: Drive to Pokhara ( 6 - 7 hours drive)
Today you will check out of the hotel and be transferred to the tourist bus station to catch the bus to Pokhara. It will take almost 7 hour to reach Pokhara by bus. You can enjoy a lot of natural view on the way of Pokhara. Nearly after 7hour you will reach Pokhara then you will check into Hotel. In the afternoon you will have some free time to explore Pokhara especially its lakeside. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 4: Pokhara to Tikhedunga (3 hours Walk)
After breakfast we will head toward Tikhedunga. We will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul which is almost 1 to 1.5 hours’ drive. After that we will walk toward Tikhedunga which is almost 1 – 2 hours walk. Overnight stay at Guest house.
Day 5: Trek to Ghorepani (7 hours)
Wake up for an early breakfast. And after breakfast we will start our trek toward Ghorepani. The trekking with a steep stone stairway. Once you complete this section the rest of the trail continues through a scenic area of rhododendron and oak forest. Nearly after 7 hours walk we will reach Ghorepani. Overnight stay at Guest house.
Day 6: hike to Poonhill and trek to Tadapani (7 – 8 hours walk)
Early morning hike to Poon Hill and admire panoramic vistas of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, II, III and IV, Nilgiri, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal. Then we commence our Trek to Tadapani. Overnight stay at a Guesthouse
Day 7: Tadapani to Pokhara
After breakfast we will head toward Pokhara. We will walk toward Kimche via Ghandruk which is 4 hours walk. After reaching Kimche we will drive to Pokhara which will take almost 2 hours. Overnight stay at Pokhara.
Day 8: Fly Back to Kathmandu
Early in the morning we will visit Sarangkot. If you are interested you can do Paragliding in Sarangkot. After that we will be back to hotel have some lunch and Fly back to Kathmandu ( 30 min). Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
Day 9: Departure
Approximately 3 hour before your departure flight our office representative will meet you and escort you to the airport for your international flight.
